The European Space Agency has announced that people will be able to follow the eclipse online. Other international astronomy organisations and broadcasters are expected to publish their schedules nearer the event.
Rather than depending on one feed, this page will provide alternative viewing options where possible. Weather can hide the Sun from a ground-based camera, so feeds from several locations offer a better chance of following the entire eclipse.
What time does the 2026 solar eclipse begin?
Across the Earth, the partial eclipse begins at approximately 15:35 UTC. The first total phase begins at approximately 16:59 UTC, greatest eclipse occurs at approximately 17:47 UTC, and the final total phase ends at approximately 18:35 UTC. The final partial eclipse ends at approximately 19:59 UTC.

How to follow the eclipse on this page
- Open the page early. Join at least 30 minutes before the main phase at your chosen location.
- Check the stream status. The primary player and available backup feeds will be listed near the top.
- Choose a location. Different cameras will reach totality at different times as the shadow crosses the eclipse path.
- Keep the city map open. Use it to follow local times and compare what is happening across Europe.
The eclipse does not happen everywhere simultaneously. A camera in Iceland will reach totality well before cameras in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands.
What will the live broadcast show?
Inside the path of totality, the Moon will completely cover the bright face of the Sun. The sky will darken, the solar corona will become visible and the horizon may glow like a sunset in every direction.
Outside the path, viewers will see a partial solar eclipse. London, Paris, Lisbon, Dublin, Madrid and Barcelona will all see most of the Sun covered, but they will not experience the corona or the darkness of totality.
Spain presents a special broadcasting challenge because totality happens close to sunset. The Sun will be low over the western horizon, so hills, buildings, haze and low cloud may obstruct some cameras. Streams from several regions can provide valuable alternatives.
Can I watch from my own city?

How to watch safely outside
A live stream is safe to watch on an ordinary screen. Looking directly at the real Sun is different.
- Use certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses during every partial phase.
- Ordinary sunglasses are not safe, regardless of how dark they appear.
- Never look through binoculars, a telescope or a camera without a suitable solar filter fitted over the front of the instrument.
- Only viewers inside the path of totality may remove eclipse glasses during the brief period when the Sun is completely covered.
- Put the glasses back on immediately when the first bright part of the Sun reappears.

What time should I open the live stream?
Open the page before 16:30 UTC if you want to follow the approach to the first total phase. Viewers interested mainly in Spain should return before approximately 20:00 CEST, ahead of totality around 20:27–20:33 local time.
Will the live stream be free?
The streams featured on this page will be freely accessible unless a broadcaster clearly states otherwise. No payment should be required to use the eclipse maps, city guides or safety information on this website.
Can I watch if it is cloudy in Spain?
Yes. The page will provide alternative streams where available. A cloudy camera in one location does not necessarily mean that Iceland, another part of Spain or a different point along the path will also be cloudy.
Can I watch the eclipse later?
After the event, this URL will be updated with available replays, highlights, photographs and a timeline of the Moon’s shadow crossing the eclipse path.
